Stakeholder mobilization will be key to the success of the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers. Governments, Volunteer-Involving Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, the UN system, businesses, academic institutions and other partners are called upon to join together towards it common aims.

Many of the well-known names in volunteering are working together on the Year, from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, to the Scouting and Guiding movements.

Several umbrella groups, like Civicus, IAVE and CCIVS, bring an even greater range of civil society and Non-Governmental Organizations into the picture, while national volunteering schemes from Japan, Korea and Germany and others are also on board.

And not only is it the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers, but also the European Year of Volunteers and the half-centenary of the Peace Corps, for example. So there is a lot to celebrate!
