With over 200 million people living in poverty in Latin America, volunteers have been taking matters into their own hands. Through A Roof for my Country (Un Techo para mi País), an NGO headquartered in Santiago, Chile, volunteers help build transitional homes in order to provide the neediest families on the continent with small, functional houses to improve their living standards. Each year more than 20,000 volunteers participate in constructions, while 5,000 assist on a permanent, weekly basis with community organizing and social inclusion programs.

Here, we feature volunteers from A Roof for my Country as they share their stories in their own words.
