Shahid Kazmi (born April 5th, 1992 in a lush green valley of Shalozan at Parachinar, the most ignorant and backward area of Pakistan namely FATA) has been involved in volunteerism, human rights & youth activism indirectly and directly since the late 2007, working with various local and International Human Rights & Youth Organizations with envision a world where all human rights of all people are equally respected, fully protected and universally realized.
Included in this vision is a world where all young people – regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion, class, gender or other differences are encouraged and empowered to non-violently claim their own rights and serve as advocates for the rights of others.
I dedicated to Empowering Youth from around the World to work together cross-culturally not only with each other but also with civil society organizations and policy makers to advance the use of the human rights framework as a tool for social change and to ensure that all human rights are fulfilled for all people.
Moreover I have represented FATA/KPK in all forums across the Pakistan and raised the issues/problems of youth and voice for my troubled community and needy people suffered from so called war against terrorism, militancy and extremism.
My area of interest are Human Rights, Volunteerism, Social Works, Social Justice, Gender Equality, Youth Empowerment, Child Lab our, Child Beggars, Charity Work, Female Education.
I am volunteering my time, skills, resources and money in the area of education in Haiti through www.havserve.org.
Our team of 269 international volunteers online and on-sites and 200+ Haitian volunteers are doing the following activities as of 2012 in the the villages of Lebrun, Nan Sable and Larintrie:
First, putting every child in a classroom in one community at a time and supporting their teachers. The global community pledged to achieve universal primary education by 2015. We need to make all the necessary investments to ensure that every child has equal access to schooling in Haiti by 2015 and beyond.
Second, improving the quality of learning. Access to education is critical. But it is not enough. We must make sure that people acquire relevant skills to participate successfully in today’s knowledge-based society. Our team of volunteers will be conducting ongoing training for all teachers, parents, community leaders on the importance of EFA in one community at a time.
Third, fostering global citizenship. Education is much more than learning how to read or write. It has the power to shape a sustainable future and better world. Education policies should promote peace, mutual respect, environmental care, and empower communities. Our volunteers work with all schools in one community at a time and provide them the resources, knowledge, ideas, training they need to shape their community's future.
As part of the Camps International family (www.campsinternational.com), we run trips for thousands of students from across the world to our project camps on three different continents who pledge their time for no less than one month to contribute towards our overall project goals. We build schools, provide free medical care, increase water security, protect wildlife habitats, plant thousands of trees...that's our pledge to the world...
Volunteering with Raising The Village to help villages in Uganda recover from extreme poverty through community based planning, education, and sustainable agriculture.
As a founder and programmes coordinator of Youth Volunteers Without Frontiers-Ghana, I am leading a team of youth volunteers in the implementation of a project titled Samaritan School in Kumasi. Samaritan School project seeks to create a congenial environment in which every child regardless of sex, creed or socio-cultural background will have equal access to quality education through volunteer-run supplementary schools that take the form of Homework Clubs. Volunteer teachers from the tertiary levels of education especially the universities and polytechnics have been recruited to run the Homework clubs. Students between the ages of 6-14 meet with volunteer tutors during weekends to read books, work on homework, review class work, study for tests and do other kinds of extracurricular activities like music, dance, drama and sports to prepare them for senior high school
The literacy rate of district Ghotki, SIndh, Pakistan is 33.74% as per UNESCO Islamabad report, therefore, we feel that we have to increase literacy rate of district Ghotki and this will contribute to achieve MGDs goal. Where we faced a lot problems and hurdles to establish 100 adult literacy centers. In these areas we difficultly found out female candidates as teachers to teach in adult literacy centers. I am a big fan of Massive Open Online Courses. These high quality education material changed my life, made me a more knowledgeable and confident person, also fulfilled my childhood dream of studying in top universities in MIT. There are loads of other people in my country who have same kind of needs and thirsts regrading quality education material like I do. So about six months back i started telling people about these courses. Most of the peoples were skeptical and did not give me much listen. But I started finding people in need of these material and also passionate about quality education. Also, people who cant access higher education in my country due to money problem are also befitting from these material. Me and my friends are collecting the materials from different online courses and supplying them to anybody in need. The curator of TEDxDhaka, Mr. cal Jahan and the HRM Mirza Salman Hossain beg started a project under the TEDxDhaka named TRANSED. It means, Transforming Education. I believe the root cause of all the problem my country, Bangladesh have lies in the education system, and i want to transform it in my own way. I am going to jailbreak it.
Education is the main future solved problem we believe...Youth want to have a good future but they don't know how and where they will begin. We are volunteer teacher in our NGO.
