When I am traveling along the roads I see people begging. Even in some developed area. And sometimes I see people Can't lift there own feet or not old enough to work, but doing self employment to feed themselves. So There's no poverty. There must be a way to guide them to go out this darkness. I am struggling to find a way. Do you know a way?
I worked as a WFP volunteer in Tajikistan in 1999 in the field office and was involved into food distribution. Later on I worked as an Asisstant to the Admin Officer in the Country office. Going to the field every day and monitor the pocess of food distribution I saw poor and needy people who lost their documents, homes, belongings during the war. Lots of them were jobless. There was no electricity and people cut the trees down to make a fire and cook something to eat. With our help they planted the trees, they cleaned the channels to cultivate the crops. Poor mothers were happy to have some food for their kids. Working in the Country Office and dealing with purchasing and supplying I always came back to my experience in the field office and organized the system of supplying the field offices in the best way. I did my best and it's great when people can help each other.
J'ai participé à la traduction d'un guide des achats publics durables dans lecadre du PNUE ; cette dimension du développement durable est pour moi essentielle, car les Etats et les autorités publiques se doivent de montrer l'exemple en matière de protection de l'environnement.

One of our initiatives, la Tablée des Chefs tackles the significant issue of food supply inequalities by serving as a sustainable food broker between hotels, entertainment arenas and corporations, and shelters and soup kitchens. Its efforts help more than 350,000 underserved individuals in Quebec annually receive meals that otherwise would have been thrown out.
My name is Zafirah Mitchell, Most of my father’s family including my father served in the military. My father would tell me stories of places he visited and the people he met there. Also living in California I had a wide variety of friends whose family were immigrants from different countries, including Israel, India, Africa, Europe and Asia. I learned to appreciate the different views, topics and the way we could all get along even though we were each from different “dots” on the globe. It was this experience that inspired me to learn more about different cultures and traditions. I often wondered why the poorer communities could not uplift themselves; I began to look for answers. Being an International Economics major at Spelman College, learning in depth about how to apply economics to global issues occurring today and being involved in community activities allowed me to broaden my outlook from a narrow view of “my family and I” to a broader view of “helping others can be as rewarding and fulfilling as helping oneself”. I decided that I could provide the most help to change this world if I could work with various low income cultural groups and teach them the business of business and the economics of life and money. I would like to improve and extend the quality of life for everyone and in doing so I know that I will help my community as well. I have realized that my mindset has become more global, rather than domestic as it was when I first attended Spelman College. My philosophy is to experience, learn and interact with the world, while embracing the past and boldly plunging into the future. My dream is no longer to change the world, my dream is to help save it. I am more determined than ever to do my part to help my community, other communities and the world from wars, global warming, pollution, poverty and the other issues that divide people and countries. I am more convinced because of all the things that has happened to me in the past that everybody deserves a chance to live out their potential.
Hi All, personally I don't have a story but I would like to share in such great actions of helping others .
