INTERNATIONA VOLUNTEER DAY CELEBRATION 2014
On the 6th of December 2014, youth leaders in Tarkwa-Nsuaem municipality in Ghana celebrated International Volunteer Day which fell on 5th December. As part of the activities, youth leaders from FEDYAG-Tarkwa and staff of National Youth Authority Tarkwa secretariat marched through principal streets of Tarkwa with placards to create awareness on volunteerism. This was followed by a forum at the Municipal Assembly Hall. The theme for the forum was “Youth Volunteerism: The need for the youth to participate in community centred development projects”. Officers from the National Youth Authority urged the youth to channel their energies into activities that promote development and therefore better living standards. Participants were given the opportunity to share their experiences and best practices. The youth leaders pledged their readiness to educate other youth to actively get involved in voluntary activities.
