Ebola related activities in Sierra LeoneWritten by Cristina
EngAyde is a group of concerned Sierra Leoneans, dedicated to developing a reliable and trustworthy one-stop-shop online platform that is focused on connecting, catalysing, and influencing decisions and actions to help bring a swift end to the Ebola crisis and its long term effect on Sierra Leone. In relation to influencing, we also consider ourselves to be an advisory/advocacy group that applies pressure where necessary
To positively inform and influence as well as offer practical coordination support to Sierra Leoneans and friends of Sierra Leone who wish to take direct action to bring a swift end to the Ebola crisis and its long term effect on Sierra Leone.
The name ‘EngAyde’ is derived from a well-known Krio saying which means ‘let’s put our heads together’. This group’s aim is to do just that by working in conjunction with affiliate partners to help find practical solutions to end this brutal crisis that is threatening to tear up the economic and social fabric of Sierra Leone. The group came together following a series of Facebook group discussions in late July 2014. After weeks of talking, planning and waiting for something to happen, we decided to take the bull by the horns and respond to the nuanced interests of the Sierra Leonean community at home and abroad. We shall shine a light on all Sierra Leonean volunteering for Ebola related activities and events in the diaspora. We shall also unmask our volunteers for the very first time tomorrow for #IVD2014
