Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in addressing development challenges

Volunteerism in the post-2015 development agenda

Volunteerism's contribution to development is significant, but not adequately recognized. The post-2015 process offers an unprecedented opportunity to advocate for volunteerism and the values it stands for as an integral component of the new development agenda.

UUNV logoNV is actively involved in this process: at country level through the work of its volunteers; at global level by providing inputs to relevant UN mechanisms; and together with volunteer groups, by supporting civil society participation in post-2015 decision-making and UN processes.

Recognising the role of volunteers in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

500ways-logoVolunteers have made a real, but too often invisible, contribution to development. 500ways.org is a joint initiative of several VIOs which features a volunteer story every day throughout the last 500 days until the end date for the MDGs.

Post-2015 dialogues

UNDG-Dialogues w300

The UNDG Dialogues on the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda continued the global conversation. UNV supported national dialogues through its volunteers and co-led the global dialogues on Partnerships with Civil Society. More
