Kos VolunteersKos is a small island in the Aegean sea. In 2015 about 55.000 Refguees landed on its shores. A group of local and international volunteers appears to be among the main provider of humanitarian aid, supporting Greek institutions, UNHCR and other organization. On Saturday, 5th December, on the occasion of the International Volunteer Day, more than 50 volunteers from different nationalities bonded together and cleaned up the shore of Kos town. Volunteers focused in the port and in the area of Lambi, where they managed to clean the shore completely, removing thousands of life jackets and even small inflatable boats. Gloves and bags were distributed to the participants, while a specially branded T-shirt commemorating the event was also provided. After the cleaning campaign all volunteers were invited by Mercy Corps at Boomerang. UNHCR, Samaritan's Purse, IOM and other organizations which provided technical support to the event, would like to express their gratitude to all the Kosian and international volunteers who, with great dedication, worked incessantly and managed to support thousands of refugees in the recent months, making Kos an example of humanitarianism and 'people to people' help.

- I have most awarness in education area, because when I was a child I couldn't get a good education, as the tuition to get it was expensive. So, right now, I try to give free education to the children around my house. I started to build a little school inside my house and find donations to provide the children with books and stationary.
