The Vietnamese Book Bank

Written by  Guest

Our programme, the Vietnamese Book Bank, is a project that will set up book banks in poor schools throughout Vietnam that lack the funding to purchase the books themselves. Each book bank will hold 400 books of varying subjects and offer children the chance to borrow books, read them and return them and take out another book just like an ordinary library. Our first Book Bank is opening at the beginning of June this year in the highlands of northern Vietnam followed by further Books Banks across the country later in the year. We also plan to make books available to orphanages and street children. If they have a passion for learning we will have the books.

Our group is made up of myself, a volunteer English Teacher from the UK, and my Vietnamese students who come from across Vietnam.

Our volunteer group is entirely volunteer lead. All the volunteers are passionate about helping children realise their full potential by increasing their knowledge and adding value to their education. We believe that every child should have an equal chance in life. Poverty should be no barrier to learning
