Providing access to good health and sanitation to primary school children in Ngie sub division, Cameroon

Written by  Eldad Umenjoh

I have been involved creating awareness in communities in Cameroon through cleaning of spring water points in Bonambuefei village, organizing best toilets and cleanest compound compitetion.
This take place in the month of April each year
The 1st received sum 50,000frc, 2nd 30,000frs 3rd price 20,000fr respectively
This ecouarges hygiene and sanitation in homes and in primary schools

What I am trying to do is aimed at providing each village primary school in Ngie sub divition with a modern toilet.
We can all be part of this cuase .
Operation primary schools Toilets with pilot project In Ngie Sub division North West Region of Cameroon.
Statistics show that the six schools Spire is supporting in Ngie have a population of about 1000 pupils, with an average of two trained paid Government teachers employed in each of these schools. The rest of the teachers are employed and paid by the PTA (Parents teachers Association) statistics also show that 90% of the schools in Ngie do not have school toilets and five out of the six primary schools supported by Spire Norway do not have toilets. Statistics also show that 600 pupils in Ngie are epileptic patients.
The burden of construction of these schools is in the hands of the PTA that also take charge of recruiting some PTA teachers to supplement those sent by government that are not enough, because of the high burden on the PTA, they do not have a means to construct toilets for these schools; namely G.S ANGONG, G.S ABEBUNG, G.S BONAMBUFEI, G.S TEZE, G.S AZEM and G.S TINAKOH. Due to the lack of toilets, the schools teachers and pupils use the bush and nearby rivers for toilets.

This un healthy attitude by pupils and teachers contribute greatly in the pollution of the school environment and the spread of diseases among pupils; such as typhoid fever, malaria, diarrhea, dysentery and epilepsy. Most often, these pupils and teachers do not wash their hands after stool. This greatly facilitate the spread of these diseases and make learning environment unconducive.

With the help of modern toilets to these schools, the hygienic and sanitation conditions of these schools will be improved. the spread of the above diseases within the community will be greatly reduced, the academic results of these pupils will improved through healthy education. The standards of living within the community will also improve thereby alleviating poverty. The rate of dysentery cases which is rampant within these
will be reduce
I started a cause on cause com operation school toilets for primary school in Ngie sub division and with two monts 66 pople have sign and join the cause all over the world.
I we lack is funding to to move the project forward.
We are open to welcome any partnership or UNV to move the project forward and to cover the hold country and move to other countries in Africa because these are a common prpblem face by 80% 0f African countries.
To provide access to good health and sanitation for our primary school chilren.
Protecting their dignity and self esteem.
To protecting the kids from infections.
