I worked as Communications Adviser on Participation and Governance at the Office of the Commissioners to the Supreme Court, New Delhi, India for one year and eight months (November 2009-July 2011). The office monitors and advocates for the implementation of food schemes embodied by interim orders issued by the Supreme Court. I worked on the advocacy side.
To volunteer is to face a personal and professional battles. Difficulties counts from being away from family and friends to being deprived from the way of life you used to,and from adjusting to an entirely new environment to coping with the demands of work as volunteer. With my determination to contribute to worlds' cause of ending hunger at least at the side side of the world where my placement is, I was able to accomplish important works for my office. These accomplishments include: developed the office's website content; reviewed and edited states' reports on the status of food schemes implementation; revised to user friendly documents Commissioners' Booklet and some other documents and; developed advocacy paper for the parliament. I believe, these works made significant impact to progressively realize the right to food of millions of the vulnerable, marginalized, and disadvantaged population of Indian society.
