Let's Do It! Estonia (2008) - country clean-up with 50 000 volunteers

Written by  www.letsdoitworld.org

There's 100 million tons of illegal garbage lying around the world. Waste is everywhere - in cities, beaches, oceans, forests. To change this we have to come together and create a real global change.

It all started in 2008 in a small Nordic country called Estonia, where 4% of the population of the country (˜500 000 volunteers) cleaned up the entire country of illegal garbage in just 5 hours! 10 000 tons of garbage were collected. The officials report that four years after the action, the littering and illegal dumping problem has decreased by 75%.

With each cleanup we will make this planet cleaner. With each garbage place that is mapped, with each park, street, city and country that will be cleaned, we will send out a message - the cleanliness, health and wellbeing of ourselves, of our countries and of this planet is in our own hands!
