It's about being heard by the right people at the right time.
Volunteers around the world can sometimes feel that their contribution to society goes unnoticed. Now is the perfect time to be heard, and where better to do it than at the meeting aiming to set goals for the way we will live on this planet over the next decades.
Rio+20 will bring together governments and the international community - including the United Nations and NGOs - as they strive to set global targets to move the world towards sustainable development. Sustainable development is about meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
At this crucial crossroads, our aim is to vocalise your volunteering activities so that you can be heard by the global target setters who will be in Rio in June. In short, we want them to know what sustainable development issue you're dedicating your time to, and show them how crucial people’s volunteer actions are for the future of our planet.
Rio+20 is a great opportunity to show global leaders what people care most about. The #actioncounts tag will allow us to identify your actions, and add all your individual contributions together. We believe that grouping similar voluntary acts together gives them more weight – many voices speaking together are more likely to be heard.
